This is the first conference for Vision Rehabilitation Workers and Habilitation Workers in Scotland for over a decade. The day will bring together professionals from across Scotland to share knowledge and skills as part of their professional development. It is also a rare chance for professionally isolated staff to network and support professional resilience.
Managers are also welcome to attend and we would be happy to include a workshop for managers on the role of the Vision Rehab worker if there is demand.
The programme will contain a mix of workshops and presentations, along with equipment demonstrations. Sessions booked include:
Introduction and personal perspectives - Jamie Cuthbertson, Macular Society
"Is there an app for that?" - exploring Amazon Echo, Orcam, Synapptic and apps for smartphones and tablets and the role of the Rehab. Worker in using them - Catherine Smith, Katie Golding & Lindsey Deere, Blind Veterans UK
Interactive peer discussion around Orientation and Mobility case studies
