CPD Consultation & Outcome Measurement Event

London 30th November 2015

This event is for qualified Rehabilitation Workers and Managers

RWPN believes that a healthy professional body should be promoting a formalised structure for Continued Professional Development in a way that reflects how other, longer-standing professions, encourage their workforces to develop and evidence their learning.  This is an issue for the workers themselves but also for employers of Rehab. Workers.

This process of building a structure will take time and we would like to consult members and non-members of RWPN and their managers.

This event is in two parts (lunch will be provided).

The first part of the day is a consultation and discussion on CPD.  It will be facilitated by Resound Training and Development, a company that has worked with a number of healthcare providers, including LOCSU (Local Optical Committee Support Unit).  The learning outcomes for the day are: for all to gain an improved understanding of what a  programme of CPD means for a profession; for all to gain an understanding of the link between CPD and their appraisal and targets; for all to have an opportunity to discuss and comment on decisions to be made; for all views expressed to be considered whilst agreeing that in order to progress with the decision making, not all will be adopted.

The second part of the day is focused on outcome measuring in Vision Rehabilitation work.  As the pressure grows to demonstrate to commissioners and managers the value of our work, so does the need to find a mechanism to do this. This part of the day will be facilitated separately and will give the opportunity for participants to comment and a sample range of outcome measurement tools.  We hope that it provides an opportunity to reflect on whether it is appropriate for the sector to try and develop and promote just one or two models.

The event is supported by RNIB’s Department of Health-funded Early Intervention and Rehabilitation project.

Places are free, but booking is essential and pre-reading for both parts of the day is strongly encouraged.  There are only 25 places at each event and an additional 5 places at each reserved for managers only.  [lunch provided]

RWPN would like to stress that if you are not able to attend this event there will be other ways to join the debate in due course.

We hope that you will feel able to voice your views over the coming few months.

Best wishes,
